Spooky Wednesday

Image
P2/3 had Forest School this morning on a crisp but bright day and they brought some of the activities back to the class. Quite a few tried making their own “potions” and “spells” and the woodland crafted broomstick was a hit inside too. In the afternoon they had a look at the fantastical illustrations and characters created by Tim Burton and had a go at designing their own Hallowe’en mayor. Abracadabra!  P2/3 painted this autumn scene with Mrs Uney Room on P2/3’s broom

What's The Time Mr Wolf?

Image
While the Primary 3 pupils of P2/3 were with Mrs Grieves and her class, P2 started work on reading the time on analogue and digital clocks. We started today by revising "o'clock" times and used clocks and games to consolidate their learning and at the end we went out for a game in the playground with Mr Wolf.

Forest School

P2/3 had their first Forest School session today and had a go at tying figure of 8 knots when they were den building. The weather was kind to us today-a pair of spare socks would be worth packing for school every Wednesday as wellies can be chilly and sometimes the temptation to measure the depth of a puddle can be too much...

Our Favourite Toys

Image
Before the October break our homework was to write adjectives to describe our favourite toy and then bring this in. We used this to inspire our writing. Some people chose toys from home and some chose toys they like to play with in the classroom. We are working very hard to add more detail to our writing and by using amazing adjectives we were able to do this.

Term 1 Update

Image
Mrs Uney here. I have now got my head around the blog and thought I should do an update. I have taken lots of picture of our learning journey so far and wanted to share some of what we have been doing. Term 1 has gone so quickly and the class have worked super hard. I hope you enjoy our pictures and will update more when I have them. We have been working on our numbers this term. Everyone is learning to write and count up to 100. We have also looked at new strategies for helping us with addition and subtraction. Using a number line we have learned to hop and count on or back.  As a composite class some of us did not know each other, however, we have been working together in a lot of activities and getting to know each other better. In these pictures we were sorting cards to show our morning routine. This then helped us in our writing task that day.  In Primary 2/3 we are very creative. In this lesson we were looking at sorting

Future Friday’s

Image
While this post doesn’t relate to P2/3 completely I thought I would share my Future Friday afternoon here.  I am running a  three week textile crafts block and the upper school pupils got the chance to do some felt-making and for their final session they tried stitching on their felt artwork and adding buttons to their textile art. Seeing involves  precise fine motor skills and these are important skills in medicine, engineering and other industries. The children worked hard over the three weeks and were extremely supportive of each other by offering to help thread needles for each other etc. Here is their second piece of felt art. The children had free rein to select colours and design their felt fabric. Don’t they look fantastic!
