Tally marks, litter survey and jewelled webs!

Image
Primary 2/3 were out carrying out a litter survey as part of our Eco Schools work. They used tally marks to collect the data and during their walk round the playground they spotted some beautifully “jewelled” spider webs and a  fly being caught in a web  and then taken away by the spider! In the afternoon we has the second of our “Future Friday” sessions and some of P2/4 wor3ed with Mrs Thomas on 3D art and once they were finished they created stunning neon paintings.

Information Handling

Today the children collected information about how many letters are in their names and displayed it on a bar graph. Then they tried sorting items using Carroll diagrams. Here are some snaps of them hard at work!

Data Handling

Primary 2/3 braved the elements and went in search of interesting items during their maths lesson on Friday. Their first stop was at the wildflower bed in the playground where some flowers and leaves were picked and then they moved onto the school woods where more natural items were selected. On returning to the classroom, they discussed how they could sort their items and then the children laid out their items and explained how they had arranged their objects. Colour, size, plant parts and types of plant featured as criteria. Here is their work.
